Cone Beam CT

CBCT Technology

Animal Dental Care and Oral Surgery takes great pride in being at the forefront of veterinary care in Colorado, having introduced the pioneering cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology for our patients. While digital dental radiographs have been a cornerstone in veterinary dentistry diagnostics, providing invaluable insights into dental diseases in dogs and cats, they inherently present limitations as 2-dimensional images, often requiring considerable time during anesthesia.

In addressing these limitations, CBCT emerges as a pivotal advancement. Conducting a CBCT scan on our patients is characterized by minimal time and effort, effectively reducing anesthesia duration. Moreover, this technology facilitates the generation of a comprehensive 3D reconstruction of the teeth and skull, surpassing the constraints of traditional radiographs. This innovative approach empowers our veterinary professionals to identify oral pathologies that may have been missed on traditional radiographs.

The advantages extend beyond diagnosis, as CBCT enables intricate 3D reconstructions of the skull, providing invaluable support to our doctors in the meticulous planning process for facial plating procedures.

By embracing CBCT, Animal Dental Care and Oral Surgery underscores its commitment to elevating the standard of care in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, ensuring optimal outcomes for your pet.

Cone beam CT technology provides veterinarians with 3-dimensional images in far greater detail than dental radiographs. CBCT scans significantly decrease the amount of time a patient spends under anesthesia compared to the time it takes to complete dental radiographs.

Our CBCT VetCAT unit is easily rolled up to our treatment table and takes only 40 seconds to complete a scan. It has proven to be invaluable in the diagnosis and treatment planning for pets with periodontal, endodontic and cancerous disease conditions. It is also indispensable in the evaluating our trauma cases with jaw fractures.
